Insolvency and restructuring

A further area of expertise of the partnership is restructuring and insolvency advice as well as insolvency administration. Since the mid-eighties, Dr. Helmuth Liesegang has been appointed insolvency administrator for larger insolvency proceedings with a view to keeping business operations going. The special competence of the partnership is to be found in the operation of larger companies as going concern (also with a long-term perspective). The focal economic emphasis is placed on generating a large insolvency estate, particularly through maintaining business operations and keeping as many jobs as possible. In this way it has been possible to save numerous businesses after a phase of restructuring. In this area our clients also benefit from the many years of experience gained in the sale of companies. Advisory services on corporate reorganisation and restructuring have been developed using the know-how of the tax consultants and chartered accountants and the experience gained from insolvency administration. The objective is to steer companies in difficulties towards a going concern perspective. The analytical knowledge and experience gathered during insolvency proceedings and the restructuring expertise can be put to good use here. Opinions on restructuring possibilities are prepared both for the companies concerned and for credit institutions or assessed by our chartered accountants. Another emphasis is placed on advising management in critical phases. The preparation of restructuring plans, the creation of insolvency plan procedures also in self-administration are another important field of our activities. The close and intensive cooperation between the economical and the legal departments of the partnership has proven to be particularly fruitful here.
